L'Avenir is owned by well-known
French wine icon Michel Laroche whose family has been producing wines
in Chablis since 1850. Thanks to Michel's dynamism and passionate
drive, the Laroche name has become synonymous with top quality wines
that reflect both purity of winemaking and authenticity of terroir,
irrespective of their geographical origins.
Having developed his eponymous domaine
in Chablis, followed by his investments in the South of France in
1995 (Mas la Chevaličre) and in Chile in 2001 (Viņa
Punto Alto) his decision to develop outside of the Old World was no
surprise. As the premium category rapidly grows within the New World,
Laroche wanted his part of the action. L'Avenir's acquisition in
2005 is a logical evolution of his strategy and compliments the
existing range of wines.
Tinus Els is L'Avenir's CEO
and Cellar Master and his mission is to continue to produce the best
wines possible at L'Avenir and to keep the spotlight focused on the
award-winning Pinotage and Chenin Blanc.
Six of the Laroche portfolio of wines
are exclusively imported from Chablis, the South of France and Chile
and are sold at the estate's tasting room along with farm-grown
olive products.
